Purple Pinchers Keep Themselves Clean. Although They Do Not Need To Be Bathed, Purple Pinchers Can Benifit From A Bath Every Week Or Two. This Helps Them Flush Out Their Shells And Wet Their Gills.

There Are Two Ways To Bathe A Purple Pincher. One Way Is To Fill A Small Bowl With About 1/4 Inch (0.64 cm) Of Warm, Chlorine-Free Water. Gently Place The Purple Pincher Upside Down In The Small Bowl. The Animal Will Turn Over And Walk Around, Shaking Out Any Debris Within It's Shell. The Other Way Is To Fill A Small Bowl With Warm, Chlorine-Free Water And Gently Dunk The Purple Pincher In The Water Two Or Three Times, Make Sure The Hermit Crab Isn't Under The Water For More Than Half A Second, But On The Same Not, Don't Jerk It Out Of The Water. After The Bath, Let The Hermit Crab Walk Around In A Clean Box Lined With A Paper Towl.

In Addition To Bathing, Many Owners Also Use Spray Bottles To Mist Their Purple Pincher. This Helps The Animal Stay Moist. Hermit Crabs Usually Become More Active After Mistings

I don't recomend bathing hermit crabs. They can bathe themselves if they need it in their water bowl.
